Bobbie-Jo Curley

Artists Biography

Bobbie-Jo Curley knew from as far back as she can remember that music was going to be not only her profession, but also her world. Her Musical education started with piano and voice. From those beginnings she has encompassed her chosen world as a songwriter, pianist, harper, guitarist, flautist on various ethnic flutes, percussion and just about anything she can get her hands on.

She is also an accomplished singer and has been a voice teacher and performer throughout the entire Southwestern United States for 20 years. She has performed, to mention but a few, Earth Day Celebrations at Universal Studios, Arroyo Seco, Huntington Museum, Los Angeles Art Design Center, Roxy, and many conventions, Troubador, Hollywood Arts Festival and many conventions and art festivals and Eco Expos.

Bobbie-Jo considers her favorite venue Descanso Gardens. She has appeared on public radio and T. V. with Brian May (while he was still alive) played for the likes of people from such as Jonas Salk to Julie Andrews. All this whilst being an active mother, windsurfer, hiker and sailor.

Bobbie-Jo has competed in Los Angeles Irish Fairs, and twice won first place winning the proffered harp as prize. Academically, she was awarded full scholarship at the music department of the University of Nevada, Reno. She attended there only one year due to her personal preferences. She then moved to the Los Angeles area where she soaked up everything to be had at the Music Department of the Pasadena City College. Too, she studied voice under Elizabeth Howard (PhD Julliard) at Ms. Howard’s “Vocal Power Institute” until such time as she was appointed as a staff teacher. Bobbie-Jo has also studied at the Dick Groves School of Music.

At the Pasadena City College, she met Shawna Sellin who was two years running the North American (can be read as Western Hemisphere) Junior Irish Harp Champion, and the 1984 winner of the “All Ireland Junior Championship” at the competitions held in Ireland.. Bobbie-Jo and Shawna have been close friends and music collaborators ever since.

Bobbie-Jo is a fully experienced composer, arranger, performance musician and has a litany of CDs both out and in progress. Music is indeed her world and there is nothing she enjoys more than to share that world with all those about her.
